Helping businesses, organisations and communities move beyond good intentions and create spaces, services and workplaces that work for real people.

Skye Shannon has spent more than thirty years navigating the systems, services and spaces that shape whether people with disability can participate fully — or not. That experience isn't theoretical. It's built from decades of living it, questioning it and working to change it.
Her professional background spans health, disability, community services, training and inclusion. She holds a Diploma of Access Consulting and brings a combination of lived and professional experience that's hard to find in one place.
Skye founded Diversicare Solutions because she kept seeing the same gap: organisations with good intentions but no practical roadmap for making inclusion real. She works with councils, businesses, community organisations and tourism operators across regional NSW and nationally — giving them honest, plain-English guidance they can actually use.
She also works directly with individuals and families navigating NDIS, Centrelink and Aged Care — bringing the same practical, no-nonsense approach to some of the most frustrating systems in the country.

Explore TrainingSkye speaks at conferences, panels, events and workshops on disability, inclusion, workplace participation, advocacy and systems change. She brings lived experience and a direct, human perspective that stays with the room.
Invite Skye to SpeakLived-experience-informed accessibility reviews, practical recommendations for buildings, spaces, services and events, and referral to specialist consultants where technical expertise is required.
Get in TouchMost disability awareness training leaves people feeling like they should do things differently, without much idea of how. Skye's workshops are built to change that. They're practical, direct and tailored to your context — because a regional tourism operator has different needs than a local council, and the training should reflect that.
The sessions draw on both professional expertise and lived experience. The examples are real, the edge cases get addressed, and people can ask the questions they'd normally avoid. Workshops are delivered in-person or online.

Skye brings something to a speaking engagement that most people in this space can't: she has lived the gap between what the policy says and what the experience actually is. Born with spina bifida, navigating decades of surgeries and system failures, and ultimately choosing amputation as the better of two difficult options — her perspective isn't borrowed.
Her keynotes and panels don't stop at awareness. They're built around the questions organisations actually need to answer: what does genuine inclusion look like in practice, what does it cost to get it wrong, and what does it take to get it right?
Skye also works as an MC and facilitator — bringing the same directness and warmth to event hosting, panel facilitation and workshop moderation. She adjusts to the room, not the other way around.

What it takes to live when being seen isn't the same as being understood.
What Holds is a raw and honest conversation about disability, identity, resilience, advocacy, systems and what it means to be understood. It's not a motivational story or an overcoming narrative. It's what actually happened — and what it taught Skye about the world, about systems, and about herself.
Written with the same directness Skye brings to her consulting and speaking, this book is for anyone who has navigated systems that weren't built for them, advocated when they were exhausted, or wondered whether the people making decisions really understood what they were deciding.
Skye is developing a range of practical resources — guides for navigating NDIS, Centrelink and Aged Care, a self-advocacy workbook, a support worker toolkit, and more. They'll be written the way Skye works: direct, practical and designed for people who need to get things done.
The first resources will be available soon. Leave your email below and you'll be the first to know — along with early access and introductory pricing.
